Pattachitra, traditional paintings from Odisha, is a combination of two Sanskrit words 'Patta' means cloth and 'Chitra' means picture. Pattachitra paintings were originally substitutes for worship on days when the main temple doors in Puri were shut for the 'ritual bath' of the deity. The ritual continues even today. This one is a black & white painting of Krishna sitting on a lotus with Gopis around, beneath that two big Shankha with Gopis sitting inside. Pure love depicted through artist's imagination!
