Pattachitra, traditional paintings from Odisha, is a combination of two Sanskrit words 'Patta' means cloth and 'Chitra' means picture. Pattachitra paintings were originally substitutes for worship on days when the main temple doors in Puri were shut for the 'ritual bath' of the deity. The ritual continues even today. This painting has a beautiful depiction of the 7th child's birth of Vasudev & Devaki at top, with Krishna Radha on both sides, on the centre Krishna surrounded by Gopis and at the bottom depiction of Krishna with his mother Yashoda.
